Grave Mistakes makes running a funeral home everyone’s problem this November

Developer Happy Volcano and publisher Oro Interactive have revealed Grave Mistakes, a 2–4 player co-op horror comedy about running a perfectly respectable funeral home while secretly stealing body parts to feed Grandma.

Coming to Steam in November 2026, the game puts players in charge of Good Mourning™ Funeral Home. In this family business, grieving relatives still expect professional service, ceremonies need organising, and bodies must be prepared for viewing.

Unfortunately, Grandma lives in the basement; she is no longer particularly human, and she has very specific dietary requirements.

Keep Grandma fed

Each day, Grandma requests an assortment of body parts for her evening meal. Players have an entire shift to collect what she wants while continuing to operate the funeral home and avoiding suspicion from visiting families.

Once a body arrives, it begins to decay, so there is only so much time to prepare it, remove whatever Grandma has ordered and somehow make everything look normal again.

This is where Grave Mistakes gets creative. Remove an arm, and you might replace it with a shovel. A missing leg can apparently be substituted with a skateboard, while a basketball with a photograph taped to it may be enough to cover for an absent head.

Whether the grieving family actually believes any of this is another matter.

Funerals still need to happen

Stealing limbs is only part of the working day. Players also need to meet grieving families, prepare bodies, conduct ceremonies, deliver eulogies, and even play the organ while making sure nobody wanders too far into the back of house.

Physics-based bodies and online co-op are likely to make that significantly more difficult than it sounds, particularly once several funerals are happening at the same time.

Grave Mistakes also includes proximity chat, so your increasingly panicked conversations about where somebody left a customer’s leg can remain appropriately localised.

As the business grows, more families start arriving, bringing in additional money that can be spent upgrading the funeral home. More customers also mean more bodies, more ceremonies and more opportunities for something to go spectacularly wrong.

Family dinner has consequences

At the end of each shift, everybody gathers in the basement for family dinner.

If the team has collected everything Grandma requested, she gets her meal, and everyone lives to run another questionable funeral the following day. Fail to bring enough food, however, and Grandma simply chooses one of you instead.

There is also a wider mystery surrounding Grandma, the funeral home’s history and the deal that apparently saved the family business from bankruptcy while turning its matriarch into whatever is now living downstairs.

Alongside running funerals and feeding Grandma, players will gradually uncover what happened and why.

Playtest sign-ups are open

Grave Mistakes is being developed by Happy Volcano and published by Oro Interactive, with its Steam launch currently planned for November 2026.

The game supports online co-op for two to four players and will feature funeral home management, physics-based body preparation, upgrades, proximity chat and plenty of deeply questionable limb replacements.

Players can wishlist Grave Mistakes on Steam now, with registration also open for an upcoming playtest.

Our take on Grave Mistakes

There is something immediately appealing about how committed Grave Mistakes is to its ridiculous premise.

Co-op job simulators tend to work best when they start with an understandable task and then introduce enough chaos to make doing it properly increasingly difficult. Running funerals while secretly chopping bits off the deceased for a monster living downstairs certainly qualifies.

The body-part replacements could be the real highlight, though. Trying to convince a grieving family that their loved one definitely always had a basketball for a head sounds precisely like the sort of stupidity that should produce some memorable co-op moments.

We’ll be keeping an eye on this one.

After all, any family business where disappointing Grandma results in becoming dinner yourself deserves at least a little attention.
